Word on the street is that PIAA got reprimanded for trying to institute changes....don't know if PIAA will have the courage to fight this fight...
Public school coaches/AD's are going to really have to make their voices heard and may have to take drastic measures to get anything significant done!!!!!

I hope it doesn't lol!  Personally I see at it a tool that is very useful to manage various situations and is an effective way to teach the kids decision making and patience.  One of the reasons that I think it is so effective is that I don't think many coaches do a real good job of teaching man to man defense  these days (maybe a good topic all in its own).  Its not that easy to run it vs. a team that has good fundamentals on the defensive end.  The fact that a shot clock exists at all of the next levels is a pretty good argument in its favor though....
I would guess the main challenge is getting every school to install them in their gyms.

Hello all, I'm looking for a weekend camp or one day shootout in August, know of any?  Last year we went to the "games galore" camp at Penn State.  It was fine but no AC in the rooms was rough and there was a LOT of construction so getting to breakfast/lunch/dinner was a hike!  Would prolly go back but was looking for some other options.

PIAA / playoff system outside of piaa?
« on: May 01, 2017, 11:42:38 AM »
In the event that PIAA doesn't step up and do the right thing with regards to private schools dominating playoffs and the issues with transferring,  would it be possible to look at the option of having another playoff outside of PIAA?  Something along the lines of the eastern conference playoff like in football.  Heck, if a bunch of public schools opt out of playing in districts/states to play in a separate playoff comprised of schools that all play by the same "rules", that could really turn out to be a cool event, with enough participants it could be pretty prestigious too.  It might even ruffle enough feathers to get PIAA to look at the system and actually make some changes to level the playing field!
I really don't know if it's possible...anybody have any thoughts on the legalities of such?  I bet a lot of teams would be interested...

funny you should bring this up....
for the first time in my career, i have noticed this trend.  most teams we played do not have an issue but one team really comes to mind.  we counted 12 dives one game that a single player took!  she took them when being screened, boxed out, etc.  it was actually quite gave the appearance that it was being coached or at least encouraged.  sad...
i coach girls' bball so i'm not sure what it looks like on the boys' end.
